Academic honors served up for Perry netters

The Perry volleyball team has been awarded a Distinguished Academic Achievement Award from the IGHSAU for posting a combined team grade point average of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.

Raccoon River Conference All-Academic individual honors were earned by Mackenzie Ayers, Adriana Eastman, Stephanie Garcia, Jaqueline Guardado, Magley Orellana, Isabel Saemisch, Sid Vancil and Gabby West. Students must be in grades 10-12, earn a varsity letter, and provide a GPA of 3.25-4.0 to qualify.

Vancil also garnered the high honor of being named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State team for her efforts in the classroom. In addition to her scholastic prowess, Vancil set a school record this season for assists in a single set with 15, and surpassed 1,200 assists for her career, one of the highest totals in school history.
