After sitting vacant for more than a year, the former Bouton Fuel Stop at the four corners east of Perry will soon have a new tenant. The gas station and convenience store will reopen as Ampride 4 in mid-April once extensive remodeling and renovation work is finished.
Most of the details of the plan are still under wraps, but a notable Perry personage will manage the outlet, which will retail the Cenex brand of motor fuel, a name well known in the agricultural community.
The underground infrastructure of the refurbished outlet will meet modern standards for environmental protection, including replacing the filling station’s original steel underground storage tanks with noncorroding, double-walled fiberglass tanks.
