Perfect weather blessed the Relay for Life event at Dewey Field Saturday, with a steady crowd on hand throughout the festivities, which officially began at 4 p.m. and ended at 10 p.m.
The annual activities serve a five-fold purpose: To raise funds for cancer research, to encourage and support those currently battling the disease and to memorialize those whose battle with cancer ended in sorrow, to celebrate with cancer survivors and to keep cancer-related news in the public consciousness.
