The 12th annual Trent Miner Tournament Sunday could not have asked for better weather, and the large field making the rounds at the Perry Golf and Country Club clearly enjoyed themselves.

Raffle prizes were awarded and a silent auction held to benefit several worthy causes. Since its inception, the tournament has helped raise more than $47,000 for college scholarships for Perry students while contributing approximately $10,000 to Make-A-Wish and Caringbridge, two charities that played large roles as Trent battled cancer.

A total of 24 golfers played in the morning group, 12 of them aged 13 or under. Children teed off on each hole, with an alternate short format used afterward. Carter Iben’s pairing won with a 39, with Kolby Gilroy shooting a 40 and Reagan Baldwin a 44.

Quinn Whiton and David Roberts were paired with their respective fathers, Kurt and Brett, for the afternoon Best Ball tourney.

Longest putt honors went to Reagan Baldwin for the girls and Barrett Brown for the boys, with Baldwin winning the girls longest drive in the fairway while Hayden Gilmore claimed longest drive honors for the boys.

Over 80 golfers competed in the afternoon group, which used a Best Ball format.

Molly Lutmer won the longest putt and Alex Klise the longest drive for the women, with the men’s longest putt won by Joe Blaker while Noah Wilkening posted the longest drive.

Steve and Noah Wilkening won the First Flight with a round of 29, with Joe Blaker and Neil Johnston second at 34 while Sid Nagle and Scott Seeley were third at 34. Cardbacks were used to break all ties.

Tom and Harris Mertz won the Second Flight, with Tom Gries and Butch Niebuhr the runner-up pairing while Jon and Kirk Jamison were third. All three groups had cards of 37.

The top three scores in the Third Flight were of 41 strokes. Karen Ziebarth and Tim Desplinter won the cardback for top honors, with Delbert and Jacob Moore second and Emmett and Barb Valine third.
