The Class 2A No. 7 Perry boys soccer squad will host a second round contest as well as the Substate 7 final while the Perry girls will also host a semifinal game.
Perry had to travel 130 miles to Hudson to play in a Substate Final last year and were defeated, 2-1, to deny a third consecutive state tournament appearance. Reaching the state tourney in three of four years is a goal for the Bluejays this year and this time Dewey Field will host the Substate Final.
Perry has a first-round bye and will play the winner of a May 22 match between Ballard and PCM May 24 at Dewey Field at 6:30 p.m. Bondurant-Farrar and Carlisle meet in the other first round game, with ADM receiving a bye and awaiting the winner. Dewey Field will host the Substate 7 Final May 27 at 12 p.m.
The Perry girls have also been given a bye and will host the winner of a May 25 bout between Des Moines Hoover and Winterset May 30 at 6 p.m. DC-G and CMB are the first round match on the other side of the bracket, with Norwalk receiving a bye. The Region 4 Final will be played June 5 at 6 p.m. at Norwalk.
