The Perry Police Department and Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Candleridge of Perry II apartments at 2620 McKinley St. about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after fire alarms were reported sounding.

Investigations revealed smoke from a pan of burning fried chicken set off the alarms, according to Perry Volunteer Fire Department First Assistant Chief Brian Eiteman. He said firefighters ventilated the smoky rooms, and all was set to rights.

A pumper truck, heavy rescue truck and first-responders unit responded to the incident.

There were no injuries and no property damage, Eiteman said.
