After last Friday’s Senior Night football game at Dewey Field, where the PHS Blue Brigade marching band was joined by the Perry Middle School marching band, the Blue Brigade traveled to Waukee to close their season at the Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Contest and then onward to Ankeny for the Mid-Iowa Marching Championships.

“The state contest was rained out,” said PHS Instrumental Music Director Brad Sparks, “but the band still attended the contest in Ankeny. They had a great performance.”

The Blue Brigade placed seventh among the state’s District 3A bands.

In town, members of the Perry Junior Class Prom Committee turned the Casey’s on First Avenue into a full-service gas station from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday. Juniors staffed the fuel islands, distributed free bottles of water and washed windows while pumping gas for customers.

All tips and donations go toward this year’s PHS prom.
