Camper fire on Dallas-Greene county line investigated

Firefighters from Perry and Rippey battled at camper fire at 13838 120th St. in northwest Dallas County Saturday morning. The incident is under investigation.

An explosion and fire in a camper parked at 13838 120th St. in northwest Dallas County injured at least one person and brought the Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Rippey Volunteer Fire Department to the scene shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday.

A woman flagged down a patrolling Perry Police Department officer at W. Fifth and Park streets about 8:15 a.m. and told the officer her house was on fire. The officer transported the woman to the Dallas County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

A man at the scene of the fire said two people came to his house last night, and he gave them shelter in the camper. The couple later said they were having trouble with the propane tank in the camper, the man at the scene of the fire said, and he gave them another tank to use.

Law enforcement is investigating the circumstances of the blaze at this hour. The State Fire Marshal’s office is responding.

The property where the camper was parked lies on the Greene County line and is owned by Lila Glee Friemel, according to county records.
