Car fire south of Perry brings response from Perry VFD

Fire in the engine compartment of a Pontiac Grand Prix about 11 a.m. Sunday brought the Dallas County Sheriff's office and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department to the scene south of Perry near the Raccoon River.

A car fire on County Road P58 shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday brought the Dallas County Sheriff’s office and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department to the scene south of Perry and near the bridge over the North Raccoon River.

Smoke appeared to be coming from the engine compartment of the Pontiac Grand Prix. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The vehicle’s driver appeared to remove a number of valuables from the passenger compartment of the four-door car, but firefighters responded before the fire spread beyond the front of the vehicle.
