A cyclist sustained a laceration to the head about 9:40 p.m. Saturday when he ran a yield sign and struck a passing pickup truck in the front right quarter.
“He was going way too fast and hit me,” said the driver of the truck. “He said it was his fault. He admitted that right away.”
According to the Perry Police Department, the cyclist was traveling south on Fifth Street and failed to obey the yield sign at Otley Avenue, where he struck the westbound vehicle. The cyclist told a Perry Police Department officer he “had a few beers” earlier in the evening.
The Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders and Dallas County EMS responded to the incident. The cyclist was treated at the scene and then transported to Dallas County Hospital.
Before entering the ambulance under his own power, the cyclist embraced the truck driver.
“My fault,” he said, “totally my fault.”
