Dale Phillips, 90, of Bouton died Friday, July 31, 2015, at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 3 from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Peoples Cemetery in rural Woodward. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church or Perry Lutheran Home and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Dale David Phillips was born Dec. 17, 1924, at Murray, Iowa, to Roy Benjamin and Mabel (Carder) Phillips.

He graduated from Murray High School with the class of 1943.

Following graduation, he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

He united in marriage to Marlene Lou Jessen June 3, 1956, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton.

Dale worked as a federal meat inspector from 1965 to 1987 in Iowa, Puerto Rico, Florida and Tennessee.

Dale was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, serving in many church leadership offices. He was an active volunteer at the Perry Lutheran Home for 25 years, the Woodward American Legion Post #211 and at ball games in the concession stand at Bouton.

He enjoyed helping people and for many years cleaned the roadsides in the area. He loved attending grandchildren’s activities and was a regular participant in Bouton community events.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mabel; wife, Marlene; brother, Max Phillips’ sister, Norma Woods; and son-in-law, Brian Kirvin.

Survivors include his sons, Max (Sherrill) Phillips of Woodward and Gale Phillips of Bouton; daughter, Alene Kirvin of Prole; grandchildren, Aaron (Laura) Phillips of Eagle Grove, Kate (Jerod) Fleming of Phoenix, Ariz., Madison (Caleb) Taylor of Austin, Texas, Hannah Kirvin of Sioux City, Ben Phillips of Ogden and Jess Phillips of Perry; brother, Wayne (Sally) Phillips of Murray, Iowa; sister, June Flaherty of Osceola; and numerous nieces and nephews.
