August 4, 2017

  • Miranda Lee Allspach of 325 N.E. Kingwood St., Waukee, was traveling north on U Avenue when she turned into a driveway off of U Avenue and was sideswiped by a vehicle driven by Mark Andrew Ehlers of 3309 Patricia Dr., Urbandale, who was trying to change lanes in order to pass Allsprach’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Estimated damage to Allspach’s vehicle was $5,000, and estimated damage to Ehlers’ vehicle was $5,000.
  • Taylor Nicole Larosee of 5076 Cherrywood Dr., West Des Moines, was traveling northbound on N Avenue and was attempting to turn westbound on Prairie Circle when her vehicle was struck from behind by a car driven by Chesley Jo Saffeels of 33328 H Ave., Earlham. No injuries were reported. Estimated damage to Larosee’s vehicle was $10,000, and estimated damage to Saffeels’ vehicle was $8,000.
  • Carole Judy Morton of Jefferson and Linda Rittgers Ireland of Perry were both traveling eastbound on Iowa Highway 141 Diagonal. Ireland, traveling in the outside lane, changed lanes to avoid someone moving on the side of the road and struck Morton’s vehicle, which was in the inside lane. No injuries were reported. Estimated damage to Morton’s vehicle was $800, and estimated damage to Ireland’s vehicle was $3,200. Ireland was issued a citation for improper use of lanes.

August 6, 2017

  • Deondra Delynn Gaines, 24, of 2708 Barbina St., Perry, was arrested in the 34000 block of University Avenue in Clive for possession of a controlled substance.
  • Rebecca Lynn Coppoc of 1312 Wisconsin Circle, Ames, was traveling northbound in the 27000 block of U.S. Highway 169 when her vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Estimated damage to the vehicle was $5,000.
  • Sarah Apoorva of 3106 E. P. True Parkway, West Des Moines, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Interstate 80 when her vehicle ran over the rumble strips in the fast lane, which startled Apoorva and caused her to panic and overcorrect to the right. Apoorva ran into the side of a semi-tractor trailer driven by Inderpal Singh of 8014 Mango Ave., Fontana, Calif. Apoorva’s vehicle then slid off the roadway, entering the ditch, striking a culvert and rolling over numerous times. No injuries were reported. Estimated damage to Apoovra’s vehicle was $15,000, and estimated damage to Singh’s was estimated at $5,000.
