June 17, 2017

  • Neil Enderson and Patricia Long of Dallas Center reported the theft of items from their vehicle while parked at the Highway 44 boat ramp in the 23000 block of Iowa Highway 44.
  • John Joseph Madracchia Jr., 41, of 2806 Fleur Dr., Des Moines, was arrested in the 17000 block of J Avenue in Perry for possession of a controlled substance and failure to carry license or display license while fishing.
  • Sandra Knowles, 35, of 1515 Horse N Buggy Dr., Adel, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of theft.
  • Alexander Johnson of West Des Moines was traveling west on Ashworth Road and approaching the intersection when he glanced down quickly. When he looked back up, he realized he was not going to be able to stop his vehicle, so he pulled out onto Ute Avenue, turning south and striking a northbound vehicle driven by Amy Drake of Lake Zureich, Ill. No injuries were reported. Damage to Drake’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000, and damage to Johnson’s vehicle was estimated at $3,500. Johnson was cited for failure to obey stop sign.

June 18, 2017

  • Cynthia Stiles of 511 Marshall St. in Dexter reported the theft of an ATM card.
  • Suzanne Lee Christensen, 31, of 32112 G Trail, Redfield, was arrested in the 34000 block of N Avenue for driving while barred.
  • Mark Dahmke of Lincoln, Neb., was traveling west near the 111 mile marker of U.S. Interstate 80 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $8,500.
  • John Craven of Waukee was traveling east near the 103 mile marker of U.D. Interstate 80 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
  • Dennis Ray Warnick, 58, of 516 28th St., Des Moines, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear-contempt of court for refusal to pay fines or costs on an original charge of OWI.
  • Jeffrey Arlis Frain, 63, of 1307 Fourth St., Perry, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on violation of a no-contact order hearing on an original charge of domestic abuse assault.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
