A high-speed chase along Iowa Highway 141 from Perry to Bagley, followed by a brief pursuit on foot, led to the arrest early Thursday of a Davenport man by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.
Dallas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Bowers said the chase started about 1 a.m. at the interchange of U.S. Highway 169 and Iowa Highway 141, when a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Marques Tyreek Cooke, 23, of Davenport.
Cooke fled westbound on Iowa Highway 141 at speeds exceeding 100 mph. An officer of the Perry Police Department joined the pursuit, which entered Guthrie County.
Deputies with the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office were able to disable Cooke’s vehicle near Bagley using stop sticks, and Cooke then fled the scene on foot.
He was arrested without incident after a brief foot chase and transported to the Dallas County Jail, where he faces charges of eluding, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain control and driving while license denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
Cooke remains in custody on $5,000 cash bond.
