A fire was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday in the house at 1402 Evelyn St. in Perry.
Firefighters from the Perry Volunteer Fire Department and the Woodward Volunteer Fire Department fought the blaze, which fully engulfed the 106-year-old house.
Everyone escaped the house unharmed, a witness at the scene said, “except my animals.”
The cause of the fire is unknown at this hour. A neighbor said the fire appeared to start in the garage, but the incident is under investigation.
The property belongs to Rodney Metzler and Connie Hay, according to county records.
Officers of the Perry Police Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office were also on scene.
ThePerryNews.com will update this story as information becomes available.
The family had no insurance. It will be difficult to recover from this without help.
I’m sure our church would be willing to help. We need to know who to contact, please.
