Members of the Class of 2021 pose with their float., which remains a work in progress. The freshmen hope to win for both Best Float and Parade Participation in Wednesday's Homecoming parade.

Students from each of the four classes at Perry High School have been busy building their floats for Wednesday’s Homecoming parade. The theme this year is “Safari in the Savannah.”

Sponsored by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, the parade will begin at 6 p.m. and travel from Perry High School west along Willis Ave. before turning north for a block on Second St. The route ends at Raccoon Valley Bank, with floats expected to be parked along the block between Lucinda and Warford to allow for a closer look and for photographs.

The junior class prom committee will be holding a barbeque dinner at Warford and Second St. A freewill offering will be accepted, with proceeds helping defray prom expenses.

The celebration of Homecoming will continue Thursday with a pep rally and King and Queen Coronation at the PHS gym, beginning at 8 p.m. A bonfire will be held following the event at the Perry Athletic Complex, located north of the high school.

Friday’s game will pit Perry against No. 5 DC-G. The frosh/soph game begins at 4:45 p.m. with the varsity contest to follow. The Homecoming Dance will be held after the game in the PHS Commons and end at 1 a.m.
