A crew from Ames-based Bell Salvage began demolishing the building at 22983 141st St. near Bouton this week.

The old cafe at the Four Corners east of Perry is undergoing demolition this week after it was acquired in July by Van Houweling Property LLC., owners of Van Wall Equipment.

The property was bought from Randy Rudolf of Prole, president of Rudolph Investments, who owned the long-vacant diner at 22983 141st St. since 2003, when he purchased it from Bruno Enriquez.

Local historians remember when the business opened in the early 1960s as a gasoline station, Zaruba Standard. In more recent years, the business operated as a cafe.

The 2,400-square-foot building was built in 1962 on a one-acre parcel. Its 2017 assessed valuation was nearly $62,000, according to records of the Dallas County Assessor.

Once cleared, the ground will reportedly be used to display Van Wall’s farm implements.

According to the company’s website, “Van Wall Equipment supports the core values of honesty, integrity, courtesy, respect, and safety to exceed our customer’s expectations while supporting our communities we serve.”
