W-G's Cole Theisen drilled this pitch for a base hit against CMB last July 1. Theisen had two hits and drove in two runs Friday as the Hawks improved to 4-0.

GRANGER — Sooner or later — and the odds heavily favor sooner — the Woodward-Granger baseball team is going to held under 10 runs in a game.

Until that point, the Hawks have to be enjoying a wild start to their season, one that saw the hosts spank Southwest Valley, 10-0, in five innings Friday. W-G (4-0 overall, 1-0 WCAC) has outscored their opponents by a combined 42-6 in 25 innings.

Strong pitching has added a second strong component to the mix, with lefty Cole Theisen allowing just one hit while striking out nine in five innings against SW Valley.

Theisen had a single, a double and two RBIs with Nick Brummond responsible for three RBIs while scoring once and hitting a single. Brady Aunspach, Reese Jamison, Matt Rhodes and Matt Buch each had hits for the hosts, with all save Rhodes driving in one run apiece.

Austin Scharlau, Spencer Hanson and Jamison each scored twice, with Aunspach, Buch and Rhodes crossing the plate one time apiece.

W-G hosts Madrid Tuesday and Iowa Christian Academy Wednesday, with a trip to Clarke slated for Thursday.
