Six starters return for the Jayettes, who can no longer be penciled in as an "automatic win" on any team's schedule.

Perry guard Shammond Ivory was named to the Iowa Newspaper Association Class 3A All-State boys basketball Second Team in voting by a panel of Iowa sportswriters Saturday.

Ivory, a junior, finished second in 3A in points scored this season with 505; his 21 points per game was the sixth-best average in 3A. He was fifth in 3A with 69 steals, was second in attempted free throws with 185 and third in made foul shots with 118 (64 percent).

Ivory finished with 31 3-pointers on 121 attempts (25.6 percent) and was 178-of-369 (48.2 percent) on all field goals. He cleared 87 rebounds and contributed 84 assists.

One of the more athletic guards in the state, Ivory finished his junior campaign with 1,197 career points, only 107 shy of Mark Einck’s current school record of 1,304.

Perry finished 18-6 overall and won the Raccoon River Conference outright with a mark of 11-3.
