Jayette middle school track team competes at WCV meet

STUART — The Perry girls middle school thinclads made the trip to Stuart Tuesday for the West Central Valley Invitational.

Panorama won the girls side of the meet with 162 points, with Winterset second at 130. Perry scored 22 points to place eighth in a 10-team field.

Quinn Whiton was fourth for the Jayettes in the 100 dash in 14.77 seconds, with Kennedy Tunink fourth in the 200 in 31.23 while Alyssa Grow crossed fourth in the 400 in 1 minute, 13.07 seconds and Jasmin Hernandez fifth in the 100 hurdles in 20.35 clicks.

The 4×100 foursome of Whiton, Hernandez, Peyton Tunink and Lanie Fish were fifth in the 4×100 (1:01.79), with Kennedy Tunink, Jayna Kenney, Yeynisy Argueta and Daniela Santacruz sixth in the 4×400 (5:29.91) while Argueta, Peyton Tunink, Bella Nath and Cindy Truong teamed for sixth in the 4×800 (12:41.19).

Perry scored fifth place points in two field events. Whiton landed 12 feet, 10 inches from the board in the long jump for two team points, with Kennedy Tunink adding two points after a spin of 65’7-1/2 in the discus.

The middle school Jayettes will compete on Kaufman Track April 27 in the Mary Waggie Relays.
