Grace Arganbright puts the ball in play as Olivia Herrera looks on against Des Moines Hoover at Dewey Field April 10. Perry booted Des Moines North, 7-0, Tuesday for their first win of the year.

The Perry girls poured in five second-half goals to pull away from Des Moines North, 7-0, in non-conference soccer at Dewey Field Tuesday.

The Jayettes held their guests to no shots on goal and held a 2-0 lead at the half thanks to goals from Sydney Guerra and K.C. Gafkjen, with Grace Arganbright assisting on the later.

The hosts turned up their energy level after the intermission and peppered the Polar Bear goal with shots. Mariah Duffy made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal, with Gafkjen scoring off a Grace Marburger assist and Guerra off a Haley Vaughn pass to push the margin to 5-0.

Marburger added a pair of goals to cap the scoring, with Gafkjen providing an assist on one of the scores.

The win was the first of the season for Perry, who moved to 1-3 overall with the victory. Perry is 0-2 in Raccoon River Conference play.

The team returns to action Saturday with a trip to the Newton Tournament. They will then host three consecutive games, entertaining Bondurant-Farrar Tuesday, Boone April 23 and Des Moines Christian April 27. All three dates will start with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m.
