April 21, 2017

  • An officer located an open door at 600 E. Lincoln Way. The officer secured the premise.
  • An officer assisted a motorist whose dogs had locked him out of his vehicle in the 100 block of N. Chestnut Street.
  • Officers assisted with a medical call in the 600 block of S. Olive Street.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 200 block of W. Reed Street, resulting in Bridgette Perez of Coon Rapids being issued a citation for failure to wear safety belt.
  • Jean Lowe advised of a phone scam call. A caller said he was with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and was attempting to stop fraud against her checking account. He asked for her account information. Lowe ended the call and did not incur a loss.
  • The U.S. Post Office reported three stray dogs in the area of Edgewood and Elm streets. Officers did not locate the animals.
  • Bill Heaning reported a parked semi-tractor trailer that was blocking traffic in the 200 block of W. State Street. The officer located the vehicle, which was parked in the truck parking only zone in the 200 block of N. Vine Street.
  • A caller reported a verbal argument occurring in the yard of 306 W. Reed St. An officer responded and made contact with two male who were moving out of the residence and arguing about lifting heavy items.
  • RT Auto reported a local business vehicle driving through their private driveway after being asked not to do so. An officer made contact with the business owner, who said he would not drive through the area in the future.
  • Hayley Hall reported a German shepherd running freely in the 500 block of N. Chestnut Street. An officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
  • Tina Nelson captured a stray dog at 201 Edgewood Drive. An officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
  • Shannon Otterson requested that an officer speak with her unruly teenage son. The officer spoke to both the parent and child, and they reached common ground with each other.
  • An officer located a male juvenile attempting to climb the courthouse at 114 N. Chestnut St. The officer warned the male and sent him on his way.
  • Katelyne Harvey reported kids knocking on her door and running away at 403 W. Madison St. Officers did not locate anyone in the area.
  • A traffic stop was performed at Elm Street and Central Avenue, resulting in April Hopkins being issued a citation for operation without registration.

AprilĀ 22, 2017

  • An officer performed a traffic stop in the 100 block of S. Locust Street, resulting in Christopher Robin Lawrence, 56, of Jefferson, being arrested for first-offense OWI and improper registration plate lamp.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way, resulting in Monica Levinson of Cedar Rapids being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • John Schoening reported an overnight burglary to his garage at 301 E. Park St. A flat screen TV was removed from the garage. An officer is investigating.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 1100 block of N. Cedar Street, resulting in Rhonda Davis of Jefferson being issued a citation for operation without registration.
  • A traffic stop was performed at Oak and Monroe streets, resulting in Shawn Gifford of Jefferson being issued a citation for driving while suspended.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way, resulting in Brittany Neal of Churdan being issued a citation for failure provide proof of financial liability.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 800 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Mallory Jensen of Kimbalton being issued a citation for failure to wear safety belt.
  • A traffic stop was performed at 220th and Elm streets, resulting in the arrest of Kyle John Johnson, 21, of Palmer. As the officer spoke with Palmer, the officer could smell marijuana coming from the car. After conducting a probable-cause search, the officer located a small amount of suspected marijuana and a smoking device. Palmer was charged with first-offense possession of a controlled substance/marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper registration plate lamp.

April 23, 2017

  • A traffic stop was performed in the 800 block of E. Lincoln Way, resulting in Tickcha Jaimes of Perry being issued a citation for failure to have motorcycle license.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 300 block of W. Head Street, resulting in Terry Venteicher of Des Moines being issued a citation for operation without registration.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way, resulting in Larry Silbaugh of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • An officer located an open door at 800 E. Lincoln Way. The officer secured the business.
  • Kum & Go reported a male was not charged by the clerk for his fuel. The person later returned and paid for the fuel.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way, resulting in Brock Badger of Bagley being issued a citation for dark windows.
  • An officer made contact with a vehicle blocking the alley in the 600 block of W. South Street. While the officer was speaking to the driver and occupants, he could smell the pungent odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After a probable-cause search of the vehicle, the officer located suspected marijuana and a smoking device. Nathaniel James Biggart, 19, of Grand Junction was arrested for first-offense possession of a controlled substance/marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and prohibited parking in an alley. Both passengers were cited and released from the scene. Elle Parker, 16, and Scott Broadbent, 17, both of Jefferson were issued citations for first-offense minor using tobacco.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 500 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Dennis Eddy of Orient being issued a citation for excessive speed.
