Jefferson Police Report July 21-23

July 21, 2017

  • An officer located an open door at 600 E. Lincoln Way.
  • An open door was located at 800 E. Lincoln Way.
  • An officer assisted the business owner at 1603 N. Elm St. in checking the business after an alarm activation. All was fine with the business.
  • Tim Cadden reported finding a rear seat to a vehicle in his garage at 621 S. Cedar St. Cadden did not know where the seat had come from and wanted to advise the officer he was throwing it out.
  • Officers and Greene County Deputy Sheriffs assisted in looking for a male who was reportedly suicidal and intoxicated. The officer had the person’s cell phone pinged, and he was located. He was fine and not suicidal.
  • Officers were requested at 1207 N. Elm St. for a reported domestic abuse assault. An officer met with a female from Ogden and her son. They said the husband struck her several times in the face and drove away, leaving them in the parking lot. The victim refused to cooperate with the investigation. The officer did not locate any evidence of an assault taking place and will not pursue charges in the matter.
  • Nicole Weese reported harassing text messages she was receiving from a known male. An officer is attempting to locate the person to end the unwanted conduct.
  • Michelle Myers requested an officer at Greene County Hospital emergency room. She located her juvenile daughter at a residence in Jefferson, and the teen was under the influence of suspected narcotics. An officer began an investigation and learned the teen was given a high-dose Xanax pill by another person. The investigation continues with possible future charges.

July 22, 2017

  • An officer responded to a fire alarm at the Jefferson Public Library at 200 W. Lincoln Way. All was fine and the officer determined it to be a false alarm.
  • Jim Groves reported finding someone rummaging through his vehicle at 305 Edgewood Drive. Groves yelled at the person, who fled on foot. Nothing was missing from the vehicle. The officer located evidence pointing to a suspect and has requested an arrest warrant for Jesus Moises Zuniga, 18, of Jefferson for third-degree burglary.
  • Jesus Lopez requested an officer come to 308 N. Pinet St. to speak with his adult son, who was upset and angry. An officer assisted in defusing the situation.
  • An officer performed a funeral escort.
  • Officers are investigating a reported burglary to the concession stand at the Jefferson Municipal Swimming Pool at 710 S. Maple St. Someone damaged and made entry to the concession stand, but nothing was reported missing. Evidence was gathered at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
  • 6030 Properties reported another padlock cut off the storage units at 200 W. McKinley St. The lock had been placed on the unit a few days prior due to a tenant not paying rent. An officer spoke to the tenant, who said he cut the lock off in order to get to his property stored in the unit. Charges pending further investigation.
  • Irene Mischke reported a missing laptop computer and an Android tablet from 1000 W. Adams St., # 39. Mischke advised she suspected her adult son and had kicked him out of her apartment. She requested officers to come back later when her son came to retrieve his property from her apartment. An officer is investigating the theft.
  • Officers assisted with a medical call in the 600 block of W. Park Street.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 200 block of N. Cedar Street.
  • Bille Jo Hovick requested officers at the intersection of Maple and Harrison streets. Hoosick and her husband said a young male, who ran from the area, had threatened to harm them. An officer spoke to a witness in the area and has requested arrest warrants for Kyle Dean Rysavy, 18, of Jefferson for third-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.

July 23, 2017

  • An officer checked on a female after a 911 hangup call came in from 500 S. Elm St. The female was fine.
  • Lawrence Blake reported two people digging holes and metal detecting at 503 N. Chestnut St. An officer spoke to one person and advised him he was on private property. The person let without incident.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 300 block of Greenewood Road.
  • An officer spoke to Megan Ball regarding a civil child custody issue.
  • An officer took a criminal mischief complaint at 407 E. State St. Two vehicles were egged overnight but were not damaged.
  • William Davis requested an officer at 102 S. Pinet St. Davis learned his juvenile son stole from him, and they were arguing about the event. An officer worked to separate the two for a cool-down period.
  • Julie Joy requested an officer at 202 W. Adams St. for a male who was at her residence and screaming at her. Dispatch could hear a male voice screaming profanities during the call. An officer arrived and learned the screamer just left on foot. The officer located the screamer a few blocks from the residence. Jesus Moises Zuninga, 18, of Jefferson was placed under arrest and charged with third-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.
  • Nellie Petterson reported a neighbor approached her and said he was sick of her dog barking all night. She said this made her uncomfortable. The officer advised her to take steps to end the barking dog and the problem would solve itself.
  • Rose Norgart said her poodle got loose and was missing from 707 W. McKinley St. The animal returned home a short time later.
  • An officer assisted a motorist at 507 N. Elm St. The owner’s dog had locked him out of the vehicle.
  • Nancy Halterman requested assistance in locating her missing juvenile son from 504 N. Chestnut St. The juvenile was located a short time later.
  • Chris Kissel spoke with an officer concerning a civil property issue occurring at 108 E. Central St., #66.
  • Jeremy Kuehl reported he thought someone was inside his residence at 1405 S. Elm St. An officer searched the residence but did not locate anything out of the ordinary.
  • An officer located an open door in the 500 block of Greenewood Road.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
