  • Courtney Kern reported someone outside of her residence at 702 W. Mahlon St. An officer searched the area but did not locate anyone.
  • An officer located an open business door at 509 E. Gallop Road.
  • Roxanne Steburg caught a stray cat at 409 Gallop Road. An officer removed the cat from the area.
  • Jefferson Police Department officers and Greene County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Kossuth County Sheriff’s office with the execution of a search warrant at 607 W. South St. The Kossuth county deputy was searching for stolen property. During the search, officers discovered possible narcotics and related items. The Jefferson Police Department obtained a second search warrant for the narcotics and removed them from the residence for testing. Charges are pending the return of results of lab testing on the items.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call at the Jefferson Cemetery.
  • Officers assisted with a civil property exchange at 700 W. State St.
  • An officer removed a cat from a live trap at 108 E. Central Ave.
  • Melissa Wiederin requested assistance in locating her lost cell phone at 409 N. Maple St. An occupant of the residence returned the lost phone to the Law Enforcement Center.
  • Jamie Coronado requested assistance in locating his juvenile son, who was late getting home for curfew. Coronado called a few minutes later and advised his son was home.
  • Jeremy Orfield came to the Law Enforcement Center and spoke with an officer about obtaining a protective order.
  • Callers advised of fireworks being set off in the 300 block of S. Pinet Street. An officer made contact with the people setting them off and advised them they are still not allowed in Jefferson.
  • A 16-year-old male was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile charges came from a consent search at 806 W. Washington St. June 1, 2017.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
