Jefferson Police Report June 9-11

June 9, 2017

  • An officer located an unlocked business door at 509 E. Gallup Road.
  • Stephen Murphy called in and reported an abandoned bike in the 300 block of W. Clark Street.
  • Emily Wells reported a careless semi driver traveling northbound on Iowa Highway 4 toward Jefferson. An officer stopped and spoke with the driver about his driving habits.
  • Paula Clingan reported a loose dog in the 100 block of Lincoln Place. Michael Godwin of Jefferson was subsequently issued a citation for animal running at large.
  • Deb Fey reported a loose dog at the intersection of Pinet Street and W. Lincoln Way.
  • Courthouse officials requested an officer to stand by at a hearing for security.
  • Justin Lopez called 911 and reported a domestic abuse assault that occurred at 308 N. Pinet St. An officer arrived and began speaking with Justin and his wife, Conner Lopez. It was determined that a verbal argument became physical. Justin sustained several scratch marks to his chest. Conner Laine Lopez, 20, of Ogden was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.
  • Officers responded to the 600 block of S. Cedar Street and transported someone to the Greene County Hospital for a mental evaluation.
  • An officer responded to the 100 block of N. Elm Street for a male who had fallen on his scooter. The male appeared to be okay and refused Greene County EMS treatment.
  • Officers responded to 309 N. Oak St. for an unknown disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located Anthony Kennedy and Eddie Goff, who appeared to be in an argument. Goff approached the officer, advising that “you better cuff me.” As this occurred, the officer realized Goff was intoxicated. Eddie Goff, 38, of Jefferson was placed under arrest for public intoxication.
  • It was reported the Union Pacific Railroad arm crossing on N. Cedar Street was not working properly. The railroad was contacted and advised of the issue.

June 10, 2017

  • Officers responded to 113 N. Chestnut St. (Doc’s Stadium) for a female who was reportedly causing problems. When officers arrived, the female was taken home by a family member.
  • An officer assisted with unlocking a vehicle at the intersection of Vine and Washington streets. The owner accidently locked the vehicle with his 9-month-old baby inside.
  • Brittany Smith reported a burglary at her residence at 304 N. Chestnut St. Smith reported two cell phones and a car battery were stolen from the residence. An officer is investigating.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS at the intersection of N. Maple and State streets.
  • An officer was advised of a loose dog in the 200 block of W. Washington Street.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS in the 300 block of N. Elm Street.
  • Mark Marrow reported being harassed by Ryan Brown.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS in the 100 block of N. Chestnut Street.
  • Marcia Lowe spoke with an officer about a civil situation.
  • As a result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Madison Street, Michael Hamilton of Jefferson was placed under arrest for an outstanding Carroll County arrest warrant for failure to pay child support. While being placed under arrest, he was found to be in possession of a glass smoking device containing white residue suspected to be methamphetamine. The officer also located a wood box that contained a green leafy substance. It was believed to be marijuana. These items will be tested, and charges will follow at a later time.
  • An officer assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services with a male who was reported to be on the Sex Offender Registry. It was determined that the male was not on the registry.
  • As a result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of Ram Drive, Brayden Wilkens of Grand Junction was charged with excessive speed, traveling 102 mph in a 55 mph zone.
  • It was reported to an officer that a dog was locked in a vehicle in the 200 block of E. State Street. The officer did not locate the vehicle.
  • Julie Joy reported juveniles drinking at 202 W. Adams St. After the officers arrived and conducted their investigation, the following were charged:
    Bradlee Elmer, 21, of Cedar Falls was charged with providing alcohol to a minor.
    A 17-year-old female was charged with possession of alcohol under legal age.
    A 17-year-old male was charged with possession of alcohol under legal age.
    A 14-year-old male was charged with possession of alcohol under legal age.
  • Officers responded to the 700 block of N. Cedar Street for a juvenile male who was reportedly trying to harm himself. Officers transported him to the Greene County Hospital for a mental evaluation.

June 11, 2017

  • As a result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of E. Harrison Street, Johnathan Dale Laue, 40, of Grand Junction was charged with driving while license barred and OWI. He was also cited for failure to obey a stop sign. During this same traffic stop, the driver’s wife, Tauwana Laue. 38. of Grand Junction, stopped in a separate vehicle next to the officer. It was determined she was intoxicated as well, and she was also charged with OWI.
  • Officers responded to a one-vehicle, property-damage accident in the 200 block of E. Harrison Street. Jacob Jubbs was driving a red 207 Dodge Charger and accidently drove over a parking block in a private parking lot. The incident did not cause any damage to the vehicle.
  • An officer removed a bat at 307 N. Cedar St.
  • Danene Janssen requested assistance with locating her husband, Dick Janssen.
  • As a result of a traffic stop at the intersection of N Avenue and 245th Street, Shane Gailey, 27, of Fort Dodge was charged with driving while license revoked. Gailey’s license was Revoked for an OWI test failure. He was also charged with excessive speed.
  • Pamela Hamilton spoke with an officer about a civil issue.
  • Megan Ball reported that Jake Ball was harassing her. An officer is investigating.
  • An anonymous caller reported a loose dog in the 400 block of W. Russell Street.
  • Joan Lang spoke to an officer about mechanical issues at the Jefferson Swimming Pool.
  • Nicole Denhardt reported damage to a lock on a garage located at 309 N. Oak St.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
