May 5, 2017

  • A caller reported a loose pit bull in the area of Monroe and Cedar streets. The responding officer did not locate the animal.
  • Dale Ganoe reported a parking complaint in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way. An officer found the vehicle to be legally parked.
  • An officer investigated a backing accident in the 100 block of N. Vine Street. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala, owned by John Cooke and operated by Denise Christiansen of Jefferson, was backing from a parking spot and backed into a passing vehicle, a 2003 Ford Taurus, owned by Donna Paulson and operated by Jessica Paulson of Boone. Each vehicle had a reported $1,000 in damages. Christiansen was issued a citation for unsafe backing upon a highway and failure to provide proof of financial liability–accident.
  • A local gas station reported a small gas spill at 303 N. Elm St. An officer arrived and spoke with a female who was having issues fueling her vehicle and causing the spill. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Kimberly Ann Mustang, 37, of Des Moines for first-offense OWI, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct. The Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department cleaned up the small gas spill.
  • Larry McAllister reported a phone call scam. A caller advised him to send $600 via Western Union or he would produce evidence to his phone of child pornography. McAllister ended the call and did not suffer a loss.
  • An officer was requested to investigate the theft of a pair of tennis shoes. The theft occurred at 101 Ram Drive. A 16-year-old male will be charged in Juvenile Court for fifth-degree theft.
  • The Jefferson City Hall spoke with an officer about a check issued for a water bill payment to have the service reconnected. The checking account was closed, and the check was no good. A theft did not occur, and no charge will be filed. The person’s water will not be turned back on.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 100 block of E. Washington Street.
  • Shon Blake spoke with an officer concerning a civil issue at her rental property at 409 N. Maple St.
  • Roger Nielson reported a fox caught in a live trap at 102 W. McKinley St. An officer removed the animal from the city limits.
  • An officer assisted the staff at the Greene County Hospital with a patient wanting to leave the facility while a court order was being signed to hold the patient.
  • Fareway requested an officer at 1207 N. Elm St. for someone lingering in the parking lot. An officer spoke to the person, and he was advised not to linger in the parking lot after shopping at the business.
  • An officer assisted a motorist who ran out of fuel at 220th and Elm streets.

May 6, 2017

  • An officer performed a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Russell Street, resulting in Brayden Habben of Grand Junction being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • An officer performed a traffic stop in the 100 block of S. Locust Street, resulting in Denis Promes of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to wear safety belt.
  • The Union Pacific Railroad contacted officers and reported someone placed a plastic snowman on the tracks at the Cedar Street crossing. The train struck and destroyed the decoration. Officers did not locate anyone in the area.
  • An officer spoke with a female sleeping in her car at Daubendiek Park. The person was resting before continuing on her way.
  • An anonymous caller reported a pit bull continually allowed to roam free at 402 W. Russell St. An officer spoke to the animal’s owner and warned she would be cited if the animal leaves her property in future.
  • Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 300 block of W. Washington Street.
  • An officer was requested at the Greene County Hospital in order to speak with family members of a patient. The family members were upset they were not allowed to see the patient. The officer helped to calm the issue.
  • Tim Johnson reported the theft of a bicycle from 102 S. Grimmell Road.
  • Nancy Halterman said she believed her juvenile daughter, who is reported as a missing juvenile, might be in Jefferson. Officers responded but did not locate the teen.
  • Eric Campbell reported a stray dog near 401 N. Wilson Ave. An officer returned the animal to its owner and gave them a time period to have the animal licensed.
  • An officer performed a traffic stop in the 700 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Thomas Jacobsen of Perry being issued a citation for excessive speed.

May 7, 2017

  • An officer performed a traffic stop in the 600 block of E. Lincoln Way, resulting in Dylan Davis, 18, of Grand Junction being issued a citation for possession of alcohol by person under legal age. The officer also seized suspected drugs and drug-related items from the vehicle. Future charges could follow pending lab results.
  • An officer checked on a business panic alarm activation at 303 N. Elm St. All was found to be fine at the business.
  • A caller advised of a stray dog running in the area of the 1000 block of N. Cedar Street.
  • An officer removed a deceased cat from the yard at 500 E. Park St.
  • Paula Parris reported her vehicle received damage while parked at 1409 N. Elm St. An officer estimated the vehicle damage at $500.
  • The Fayetteville, N.C., Police Department advised of a female in the Jefferson area who was reported to be suicidal. An officer later located the female walking on S. Elm Street. The female was not suicidal but had nowhere to go. The officer made contact with local clergy, who met them at the Redwood Motel. The church assisted the female with a room for the night.
  • Chad Louk reported the theft of fuel from vehicles at 600 N. Elm St.
  • A local gaming hall requested an officer at 777 Wild Rose Lane for someone who was previously trespassed from the business. An officer determined the person had used a restroom in the hall but not entered either business. No trespass occurred.

May 8, 2017

  • A traffic stop was performed at State and Locust streets, resulting in Scott Davis of Independence, Mo., being issued a citation for failure to have a valid license.
  • Brenda Nichols said someone tied a black Labrador to her fence at 400 W. Sunset Road. The animal was placed in the Animal Holding Facility.
  • A local gas station reported a gas drive off values at $16.62. An officer reviewed video of the event and is investigating.
  • Officers were requested to pick up a suspected narcotic smoking device at 401 E. Russell St. The paraphernalia was located in a student’s backpack. The officer is investigating.
  • Marie Ratliff spoke with an officer concerning a possible harassment from a neighbor.
  • Ron Kolbeck reported a careless driver in the 100 block of W. Washington Street. An officer spoke with the driver about his driving issues.
  • A live trap was requested at 708 S. Oak St. for a problem opossum in the area.
  • A caller reported two people walking on the railroad tracks near Maple Street. An officer spoke with the walkers and advised them they were trespassing and to leave the area.
  • Jennifer Brown reported two trucks racing around and driving carelessly near Wall Street and Grimmell Road.
  • Kelsey Reed reported a loose dog running near the 200 block of S. Maple Street. The animal was not located.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
