Keith Orville Jones, 77, of Perry and formerly of Linden was born April 18, 1940, to Orville Bernard Jones and Elva Belle Davis Jones at their home in Lincoln Township, Dallas County, Iowa. Keith died June 9, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Services were held Saturday, June 17 at 10 a.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was Friday, June 16 from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Officiating the service was Chaplain Terry Wilkinson of Tyson Fresh Meats in Perry. Casket bearers were Tony Jones, Kenneth Jones, Kris Corrigan, Thomas Corrigan, Gordy Laird and Randy Schuhardt. Honorary bearers were Steve Morrell, Scott Morrell, Leland Schuhardt, Michael Helveston, Shawn lane, Donald McChesney, Rene Saenz and Bryan Bielfelt.

Music provided was “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Amazing Grace.” Interment was at the Prairie Center Cemetery in Linden, Iowa. A time of lunch and fellowship was held after the service at the cemetery.

Keith grew up in Linden and attended the Washington Township School.

He lived and worked on the family farm. In 1965 Keith began working at Oscar Mayer, which later became IBP and then Tyson, where he was working at the time of his death.

Most of his adult life was lived in Perry.

He enjoyed car shows, car races, NASCAR, TV Westerns, visiting, going to breakfast with Gordy and others. He especially liked any activity which involved Anna Saenz, his adopted granddaughter.

Keith was a member of the former Moose Lodge.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Elva Jones; and his companion, Dorothy Lane.

Survivors include his sister, Flossie (Kenneth) Morrell of Adel; brothers, Gordon (Katherine Moore) Jones of Perry and Dale Jones of Jefferson; Anna Saenz of Prairie City, Iowa; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends, Shawn (Tiara) Lane, Heather Corrigan, Bryan Bielfelt, Thomas Corrigan, Elizabeth Corrigan, Shawn Jr. and Wyatt, Mike and Hollie Helveston, Donald McChesney, Stephanie McChesney and Amber Carmicheal.

  1. Just saw this. I know that he was grimly ill, but death never comes easy. My condolences and deepest sympathy. Praying for God’s loving comfort to family and friends.
