The 40 members of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation's Leadership Iowa Class of 2015-2016 spent three days exploring Perry at the start of their eight-month course.

To the editor:

Thank you to the city of Perry for hosting the Leadership Iowa 2015-16 Opening Retreat Oct. 7-9. We were welcomed with warm hospitality by every person we met during our stay in Perry.

Deb Lucht and Keetah Dodson with Minburn Communications, both Leadership Iowa alums, were instrumental in bringing Leadership Iowa to Perry and were champions in planning the session, along with Bob Wilson of the Perry Chamber.

Your area is fortunate to have leaders like Deb, Keetah, Bob, Bill Clark with the Fullhart Carnegie Charitable Trust, Jay and Denise Hartz with the Hotel Pattee, the awesome Ladies at La Poste and a host of others who were involved in a most enjoyable and informative session.

Thanks also to the many area businesses that helped sponsor our session: Breiholz Construction, DMACC Business Resources, Hy-Vee, INS Family of Companies, Minburn Communications, Osmundson Mfg., Percival Scientific, Perry Economic Development, Perry Industries, Picket Fence Creamery and Raccoon Valley Bank.

Our time in Perry included a stay at the beautiful and unique Hotel Pattee, a fun and memorable evening at La Poste, meetings in the Towncraft Center and many stops around ‘Perry-dise’ during an amazing Perry adventure highlighting your many outstanding venues, businesses and recreation areas.

The opportunity to meet with business and civic leaders and to tour your community gave us a new appreciation for the “can do” attitude of Perry and the many top-notch amenities your community has to offer.

Our sincere appreciation goes to this dynamic community and all who made our session a complete success. Our experience left us wanting to return with our families.

With gratitude,

Kay Neumann-Thomas, vice president for programs
