Letter to the editor: Obamacare repeal sickening

To the editor:

I am heartsick over the U.S. Senate’s vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). I am holding back tears.

Like me, many people volunteered their time to educate others about the benefits of the Affordable Care Act and then helped sign up those without insurance.

After my husband, Floyd, died in 2008 of cancer, I dedicated the next three years to making sure that a plan passed that hindered insurance companies from taking advantage of their policy holders.

Every family is one serious disease or accident away from needing help. If you believe that the ACA needs to be repealed without a replacement, you or your family may not receive health care when you need it the most.

Even if you feel defeated because you support the ACA with updated changes, please contact Sen. Grassley and Sen. Ernst. Just Google their names for contact information. Iowa’s Congressmen should also be contacted.

  1. The ACA would be working just fine if not for Congressional sabotage by the GOP. Republicans, I’m warning you plain and simple. If what you have in mind to replace the ACA doesn’t work, there will be hell to pay, and we will come to collect. Health care is a right! There will be no debate or compromise concerning the previous statement. To myself and many others, said right is a given.

  2. If they break it, they own it. I feel so sad for the 22 million left to pick up the broken pieces. I’m watching the dismantling on tv right now. Unforgivable ✔
