To the editor:
I am writing this letter because I first would like to thank you for your donations to the Perry Police Department’s Shop with a Cop Program. With the total amount of donations obtained last year, we were able to help several families from Perry and the surrounding area.
The Shop with a Cop Program provides $125 dollars to each family selected. A child from each family goes shopping in Perry businesses in order to purchase Christmas gifts for their families.
The children must first purchase something for everyone in their household, and then they can purchase something for themselves. All of the presents are then taken to the Perry Elementary School and wrapped for Christmas morning.
Through other donations from the community, the families are also sent home with all of the items needed to have a great Christmas dinner together. The Shop with a Cop Program promotes family and being with your family during the holidays.
It is once again that time of year, and we are asking you to please donate to a good cause. We will be taking the kids shopping on Dec. 16. This is a tentative date at this time.
