April 17, 2017

  • An officer was called about a dog running in the 500 block of E. First Street.
  • An officer assisted the U.S. Marshall Service by attempting to locate a wanted subject. The person has not been living in Madrid for some time.
  • An officer assisted the Des Moines Police Department in attempting to locate someone believed to be involved in a hit-and-run accident in their jurisdiction.
  • An officer assisted with a funeral procession.
  • An officer collected an insufficient-funds check for the Market of Madrid.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle at Continental Labs.
  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer received a call regarding a lost cell phone.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of E. Sixth Street for no registration. It was determined the vehicle was just purchased and all paperwork was provided.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in 500 block of S. Kennedy Ave. The driver was warned for improper rear lamps.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a lost dog.

April 18, 2017

  • An officer was dispatched to the west of town on Iowa Highway 210 for a truck driving erratically. The officer made contact with the vehicle and its driver at a residence in Madrid. The driver was getting used to driving after a 10-year layoff due to health issues.
  • An officer received a found cell phone.
  • An officer stopped a suspicious vehicle at 340th and Rice streets with no license plates. Subsequently the driver, Christina Jones of Des Moines, was cited for no vehicle registration and no insurance and warned for having an expired driver’s license. The vehicle was impounded.
  • An officer met with a Boone County resident who turned in some legal paperwork that he found in the ditch along Iowa Highway 210.

April 19, 2017

  • An officer fingerprinted a subject for a background check for buying a weapon suppressor.
  • An officer assisted in having all the city AEDs tested and inspected.
  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of W. First Street for someone complaining about the paper delivery person putting a newspaper on his vehicle. The officer instructed him to contact the newspaper office and file a complaint.
  • An officer was called by Madrid Elementary School staff regarding a suspicious person taking pictures around the school. The photographer checked out okay.
  • An officer took possession of a found dog. The dog was taken to the city shed until the Boone Humane Society or the owner picks him up.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of N. Kennedy Street. The driver was warned for a stop-sign violation.

April 20, 2017

  • An officer was called to the Madrid Elementary School for two children that left the playground. The officer located the two students after they were reported by a concerned couple on E. First Street. The officer took the students back to the school and had a counseling session with the students, staff and parents.
  • An officer received a report about a suspicious male walking through yards on Third Street, dressed all in black and carrying a backpack. The officer located the male in front of the library. Subject just moved to town and checked out okay.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle in the 500 block of W. Second Street.

April 21, 2017

  • An officer worked on several junk vehicle ordinance violations. The city of Madrid will be conducting an aggressive enforcement of these infractions this year. The City has contracted with a company that will haul these vehicles off of your property. Contact Madrid Police Chief Tasler if you would like vehicles added to the list before notices are served and fines are issued.
  • An officer took a report about a possible sex assault against a child. The report came from third-hand information. The officer will interview the supposed victim with the victim’s parents in order to determine if an assault did occur.
  • An officer took a report about an intoxicated male attempting to break into a house on Cedar Street. The officer made contact with the man and determined it was his own house, and he was simply locked out. The officer assisted the man in gaining entry.

April 22, 2017

  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of S. Kenendy Avenue. The driver was warned for stopping on a travelled portion of the roadway.
  • An officer was dispatched to 917 S. Kennedy St. regarding a complaint about someone operating a motor vehicle without a license. The officer was unable to locate the alleged illegal driving, and the caller was advised of misuse of 911 emergency system and was given the non-emergency number for future reference.

April 23, 2017

  • An officer received a call about a juvenile sending inappropriate messages and pictures from a cell phone. The officer contacted the mother of the youth and is following up with others.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
