November 14, 2016

  • An officer assisted with a medical call at the Madrid High School.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid juvenile regarding some damage to her vehicle and other strange occurrences. Officers will give the area extra patrol.
  • An officer picked up three dogs in poor health and turned them over to the humane society.
  • An officer followed up on a vehicle parked downtown for too long. The owner moved it off the roadway.

November 15, 2016

  • An officer unlocked a vehicle at the Madrid Library.
  • An officer reviewed video regarding an open theft case.
  • An officer followed up on a tip provided to Madrid Police regarding possible illegal activity.

November 16, 2016

  • An officer performed a welfare check at Meadow Estates and advised the person to give a family member a call.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle at Casey’s.
  • An officer received a call about two suspicious people walking the area of Fourth and Market streets. The officer made contact with the people and determined they live a few blocks away and were looking at the houses in the neighborhood while on a walk. Everything checked Okay.
  • An officer followed up with a theft case from the past week.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 700 block of E. Second Street. The patient was transported by ambulance to the Boone Hospital.

November 17, 2016

  • An officer was called to the 600 block of S. Main Street for an out-of-control male doing damage to his residence. The officer made contact with the male and calmed the family situation down. The Male left to stay with other family members for a cool-down period.
  • An officer responded to a two-vehicle collision north of the Madrid city limits.

November 18, 2016

  • An officer assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services with a welfare check. While on scene, drug paraphernalia was located. Abbey Garrison was cited and released for the possession of these devices.

November 19, 2016

  • An officer responded to Jonathon Drive regarding a domestic abuse assault call. The suspect immediately fled the scene after the incident and was still gone upon the officer’s arrival. The officer will file warrant paperwork for a Lance Tjernagel of Madrid for the alleged assault.
  • An officer responded to a domestic situation the 500 block of W. First Street. The argument was determined to be primarily verbal, with minimal physical contact, and no injuries were reported by either party. The officer separated the two for the night.
  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident by passing along a message to another resident, requesting a spare set of keys after the man locked himself out of his car in Polk City.
  • An officer spoke to a local business regarding a toy collection for local families for the holidays.
  • An officer took a report of someone burning yard waste on 22nd Street. The fire was put out upon the officer’s arrival.
  • An officer took a report of a man in dark clothing walking on Iowa Highway 17 just south of town. Subject checked out okay.
  • An officer advised a person to contact the Iowa Department of Human Services with some concerns the person had involving a daycare.
  • An officer took a report of a barking dog in the 500 block of W. Second Street. The officer made contact with the owner, who promptly brought the animal inside.

November 20, 2016

  • An officer responded to 600 block of Brodie Lane for a possible drug overdose.
  • An officer responded to E. North Street regarding a suicidal male. The officer gave the male a ride to the Boone County Hospital for mental health care.
  • An officer responded to a report of a barking dog at 917 S. Kennedy St.. The dog was put inside.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
