A pair of career milestones were attained Tuesday in Perry’s 64-41 win over visiting Bondurant-Farrar in Raccoon River Conference girls basketball action.

Perry senior Claire Marburger reached the 1,800 career point plateau by leading all scorers with 26 points while fellow senior Maggie Lowe distributed 10 assists to finish the contest with 506 career ‘dimes’ leaving her just 10 shy of Fran Reis’ school mark of 516.

The Jayettes (15-6, 8-5) completed a season sweep of the Lady Jays (4-16, 2-11) by turning a 12-point halftime advantage into a 21-point bulge after three periods by outscoring the guests, 20-11, over the eight critical minutes.

Marburger had pulled in 12 rebounds but was held to a season-low 12 points in Perry’s 57-37 win at Bondurant Jan. 13. On Tuesday she proved nearly unstoppable, as Class 4A’s leading scorer (23.1 ppg) went off for 16 points in the first 16 minutes.

Emily Wilson tried to keep B-F close by scoring nine of her 12 points in the first half, but seven points from Lowe and strong play under the rim from Amy Marckres and Taylor Lathrum helped Perry post a 31-19 lead at the intermission.

Marckres and Marburger helped lead the third period scoring spurt for Perry, with Lowe landing a pair of 3-pointers to aid the cause.

Lowe finished with 13 points, six rebounds, four steals and the aformentioned 10 assists, while Emma Olejniczak had seven points, three assists and three steals.

Marckres had six points and six boards and Lathrum four points and six caroms while Victoria Hegstrom added four points and Erica Tenold and freshman Alyssa Kruger two points apiece.

Wilson’s 12 led B-F, with Lizzy Trulson contributing 11 points.

The game was the final regular season appearance for Marburger, Lowe, Marckres and Tenold, who improved to a combined 61-29 overall in their four years on the hardwood. The Jayettes will play once more on their home floor as they host a second round contest at 8 p.m. on Feb. 21 against the winner of the Feb. 18 first round tilt between Des Moines Hoover and Winterset.

Perry caps their regular season Friday with a RRC tilt at Boone. The Jayettes topped the Toreadors, 45-39, Jan. 16.
