Mitchell Mast, left, assistant manager at the Perry Fareway, and Dariel McNamara, 25-year resident of Perry, are leaving the local food store for new adventures.

Perry Fareway Manager Travis Landgrebe, left, and the entire store staff wished Assistant Manager Mitchell Mast well on his final day, Saturday.

Saturday was Mitchell Mast’s final shift at the Perry Fareway, where he has served as the assistant manager for five years. Mast has taken a similar position in a Fareway in Iowa City.

Mast began with the company 15 years ago in Sioux City, near where he grew up, and has been at the Perry store 5 years.

“I’ll be passing through Perry a lot on my way to the Sioux City area,” he said Saturday. “You’ll still be seeing a lot of me.”

Mast’s wife, Codi Snider Mast, and their 1.5-year-old daughter, Nora, will make the move this weekend, Mast said, and he will start Tuesday at his new spot in Iowa City. His wife hails from Vinton, Iowa.

August will see the departure of another familiar face from the Fareway family when Dariel McNamara relocates to Missouri, where her husband, John McNamara, has taken a position.

Dariel has been with Fareway since 2014, but she and John have lived in Perry 25 years and raised their family here.

“Big changes are kind of scary,” McNamara said, “but you only live once.”
