Perry Mayor Jay Pattee treated the men of the Society of Retired Educators (SORE) coffee group to coffee and rolls at the Perry Perk Coffee Shop on his birthday, Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The SORE men shared the celebration of Pattee’s 64th birthday, and all wished the mayor a happy birthday and many more, but at his request the group did not sing the birthday song.

Pattee is an accomplished musician, and it was not immediately clear whether he urged the SORE men to refrain from singing more as a favor to their aged vocal chords or to his own sensitive ears.

Pattee said he attributes his longevity to”living a good clean life.”
