Steady winds and cloudy skies met about 100 attendees of Memorial Day ceremonies held Monday morning at the Rippey Cemetery.

Members of Rippey’s Kinkead-Martin American Legion Post 583 provided the Honor Guard.

Rippey United Methodist Church Pastor Enna Antunez delivered the invocation as well as prepared remarks about what American freedoms mean to her, a native of Honduras.

Mary Beaver of Rippey assisted with the program, and Beverly Derry placed a wreath at the Veterans Memorial in the cemetery.

A 21-gun salute concluded the ceremonies. Legionnaires taking part in the ceremonies included Kinkead-Martin American Legion Post 583 Post Commander Gary Schmitt, Dennis Alrich, Ben Vanetta, Chris Kilmer, Dale Whitehead, Mike Sherrington and La Vere Derry, a 58-year member of the Rippey Post.

A luncheon was held at the church following the observances at the cemetery.
