Minnie Carr, 97, of Perry died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 1 p.m. A private family burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Memorials may be given to the Rowley Masonic Community or the First Christian Church and may be left at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Minnie Adair Carr was born Feb. 11, 1918, at Perry, Iowa, to Albert and Jennie Maude (Eiteman) Ort.

Minnie grew up and attended grade school in Dawson, moving to Rippey and living with her aunt and uncle when she was in 11th grade. She then attended 11th and 12th grades at Perry High School.

She was united in marriage to Nick W. Carr at Adel, Iowa.

Minnie was as a Med Nurse for Woodward State Hospital for 25 years, later working at the Perry Lutheran Home and the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home. She finished her carreer in Home Care Services.

Minnie was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry.

Minnie enjoyed teaching ceramics and being outdoors working in her garden and flower beds.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Nick W. Carr; parents, Albert Ort and Jennie Eiteman; a sister, Mina Ball; a brother, Jerry Ort; a half brother, Marvin Straker; and a grandson, Scott Allan Lombardi.

Survivors include her children, Jim (Jeannie) Carr of California, Betty (Duane) Lombardi of Madrid and Stan (Kathy) Carr of California; grandchildren, Mark (Cindy) Lombardi, Todd (Dee) Lombardi, Niki (J.R.) Harrison, Tony (Laura) Lombardi, Craig (Rebekah) Carr, Trai (Nicolette Weinstein) Carr and Robin (Gerald) Di Ioli; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Harrison, Talan Harrison, Elia, Michael and Tobia Lombardi, Adam Lombardi, Minnie Grace Carr, Peter and Annie Carr, Samantha and Spencer Price and Jayden Cruz Carr-Weinstein; and great-great-grandchildren, Emma Lombardi and Kaylin Snyder.

  1. I remember growing up next door to Minnie and what a wonderful neighbor she was….I was just talking about her the other day….she was a special lady…
