Perry pitcher Emma Olejniczak hurls an offering to catcher Brooke Huntington against CB Lincoln at the W-G Classic earlier this season.

WOODWARD — The first of two games for the Perry softball team at the W-G Classic Saturday turned out to be a pitchers duel, and Perry’s pitcher won.

Emma Olejniczak held Council Bluffs Lewis Central scoreless on one hit and three walks while striking out 12 as Perry claimed a 2-0 victory.

The Jayettes scored in the top of the first when Johanna Diw walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored when Rachel Kinney reached on an error by the Titan shortstop.

Perry tacked on an insurance run in the top of the fifth. Sidney Vancil singled, and when Brooke Huntington’s bunt was mishandled, Vancil raced all the way around the bases to move the score to 2-0, where it remained.

The Jayettes will face W-G at 4 p.m. this afternoon.
