Pair extricated at gunpoint in Bouton after report of domestic stir

Walking backward with their hands in the air, a young man and woman exited a house in Bouton Friday afternoon as Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputies and an Iowa State Trooper trained their guns on the pair.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Friday at 111 S. Jefferson St. in Bouton after someone reported a domestic dispute involving a firearm. The house is owned by Bob James of Bouton, according to county records.

Law enforcement was responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at the residence, in which a 16-year-old female was allegedly threatened with a shotgun.

A spokesperson for the Dallas County Sheriff’s office said at 5:45 p.m. Friday that no information on the incident will be released until Monday morning. The spokesperson could not confirm whether any injuries were sustained or arrests made in the incident.

  1. If the newspaper cannot print names of minors, how can they show a video? And please get the facts straight before you publish anything.

    • Iowa law prohibits the publication of the names of minors in such instances. The law is not specific at all concerning video and photographic images. If the facts were incorrect in the article above, please correct the information in a letter to the editor.
