The West Central Conference recently released their boys basketball All-WCC teams, with Panorama senior Bryce Halterman and Woodward-Granger freshman Bryce Achenbach each chosen for the Second Team.

Panther senior Jeramy Randol and sophomore Gracen Welberg were named honorable mention, as were W-G seniors Marcus McConahay and Bodie Harrison and Hawk freshman Reese Jamison.

Achenbach and Jamison, along with honorable mention picks Braden Gibbons of Madrid and Qunyton Younker of AC/GC were the only four freshmen out of 37 total players to receive recognition.

Halterman appeared in only 12 of a possible 18 WCC games but was quite effective when on the floor. He finished with 220 points (18.3 per game) and 92 rebounds (7.7 rpg) while making 47 assists and 36 steals against only 27 turnovers, a coach-pleasing ratio of better than 3:1. Halterman shot 68-of-129 (52.7 percent) from the floor, including a 27-of-66 (40.9 percent) clip on 3-point shots while making 57-of-80 free throws (71.3 percent).

W-G’s Bryce Achenbach comes from behind the swat the ball away from a Panorama player during their WCC game Jan. 31. Spencer Hanson (left), Bodie Harrison (24), Marcus McConahay (14) and Reese Jamison (5) were the other four on the floor for the Hawks.

Achenbach sparkled in his first varsity season, finishing with 184 points (10.2 ppg) and 61 boards (3.4 rpg) from his point guard spot. He had 114 assists, 68 steals and seven blocked shots while shooting 70-of-126 (58.6) from the floor. Achnebach hit 11-of-35 3-pointers (31.4 percent) and knocked down 33-of-54 free throws (61.1 percent).

Randol capped his Panther cage career with averages of 7.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while blocking six shots, with Welberg averaging 8.4 points and 5.8 caroms per contest with 39 assists.

McConahay led W-G in scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounds (4.7 rpg) while draining 17-of-45 (37.8 percent) beyond the 3-point arc. Harrison scored at a 6.3 ppg clip while making good on 15-of-40 of his 3-point shots (37.5) and canning 22-of-24 (91.7) foul shots. Jamison aided the Hawks with 6.5 ppg and 4.3 caroms per outing.

W-G was 9-13 overall and 7-11 in WCC play, with Panorama 6-15 and 6-12. All statistics are from WCC games only.
