Panther softball, baseball teams blanked by Lions

URBANDALE — Des Moines Christian claimed a pair of lopsided WCAC wins over Panorama in both softball and baseball Monday.

DMC won the girls game, 12-0, in four innings as Olivia Penland tossed a one-hitter while striking out one. The hosts were 15-0 victors in four innings, with Sam Stroh tossing a no-hitter while striking out six, in the baseball contest.

Andrew Fox had a triple and three RBIs for the DMC hardballers, with Blake Witty recording a triple and two RBIs while Carter Paterson had a double and two RBIs.

The Lions scored three times in the first inning, with six runs crossing the plate in both the second and fourth frames.

The DMC girls plated five first-inning runs and three second-inning tallies en route to their victory. A single run in the third and three in the fourth capped the scoring.

Penland had a two-run home run and Beth Zimmer a solo blast, with Alayna Bakke finishing 3-for-3 at the plate to lead an 11-hit attack. DMC batters drew seven walks in the win.

No statistical information from either Panorama team was available.
