Humane Society of Perry to host open house March 28

The Humane Society of Perry is hosting an open house Saturday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cattery, 1007 Willis Ave. Pets will be available for adoption.

Celebrate Día del Niño/Children’s Day March 28

St. Patrick’s School will celebrate Día del Niño/Children’s Day Saturday, March 28 from 1 p.m.  to 4 p.m.  Activities will include face-painting, doughnut-eating contest, Mexican Bingo, Musical Chairs and Pinatas and presentations by the Perry Public Library, Blank Park Zoo and Silly Sally the Balloon Twister Lady. Admission is $5 for children 3 and over and $15 for a Family Pass.

Jamaica Lions Club to host breakfast March 29

The Jamaica Lions Club will host its annual spring ham and eggs (and more) all-you-can-eat breakfast Sunday, March 29 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jamaica Community Center. Baked goods and U.S. Flags will also be sold.

Learn to cook with Hispanics United for Perry (HUP) April 4

Discover a whole new world of Latin American food at this HUP-sponsored event Saturday, April 4 at the McCreary Community Building senior room and kitchen. The non-refundable fee of $25 includes cooking ingredients and lunch. Send your check or money order payable to Hispanics United for Perry (HUP). Children’s Easter egg hunt at Wiese Park April 4

The McCreary Community Building will hold its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 4 in Wiese Park. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures starting at 10 a.m. and the Easter egg hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. The public is welcome to come and enjoy free candy and prizes donate by local businesses. Learn to play bridge at the Perry Public Library starting April 7

The Perry Public Library will host a six-week series of beginners lessons in Bridge starting Tuesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. Intended for beginners, the weekly lessons are open to anyone interested in a Bridge refresher course. The lessons will be taught by local experts Margie Worrell and Dorothy Corrigan and are scheduled for April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5 and 12. Class size is limited. Refreshments will be provided. Alzheimer’s Support Group

The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Dallas County Hospital Community Room.  Family members are encouraged to come, learn more about the disease and find support in fellowship. Nurse Deb Koelln, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, facilitates the discussions and helps people share their experiences and concerns for themselves and their loved ones. Dallas County Meals on Wheels

People aged 60 or older, plus their spouses of any age, are eligible for free meals from the Dallas County Meals on Wheels program. People under 60 pay a small price for the meal. Contributions are gratefully accepted. HomeCare meals are available to shut-ins Monday through Friday.

First Christian Church Clothes Closet
