Kennedy Tunink rounds third base on her way to scoring for Perry Wednesday against Carroll.

Emma Olejniczak walked two batters and struck out 12 in six innings of work off the rubber Wednesday. Her statistic line meant a no-hitter, and when she joined her teammates in a 10-run, 10-hit attack, it also meant her 17th win of the season.

Perry’s six-inning 10-0 win over visiting Carroll lifted the seventh-rated Jayettes to 20-7 overall and 6-4 in Raccoon River Conference action while the Tigers fell to 9-11 overall and just 1-7 in league play — the one win being an unlikely 5-4 victory over third-ranked Ballard.

The Jayettes made sure no surprises were in store Wednesday when Olejniczak singled and moved to second on a Brooke Huntington sacrifice bunt in the third. Jo Diw doubled home Olejniczak, with Diw scoring on a Sid Vancil base hit.

Rachel Kinney doubles home two runs in the bottom of the sixth to give host Perry a 10-0 win over Carroll in RRC action Wednesday.

The Tiger defense helped the hosts in the fourth, which began with consecutive singles from Olejniczak, Maddie West and Adriana Eastman. Huntington laced a hard ground ball to third base, but the throw to first went wild, and by the time the Tigers had tossed the ball all around the yard three runs had scored and Huntington stood on third base.

An infield error with Gabby West batting made it 6-0, with Diw walking and scoring behind West when Vancil came through with a two-run single.

Gabby West and Vancil singled to start the Perry sixth, with Vancil — who finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs despite playing under the weather — lifted for pinch-runner Kennedy Tunink. Alyssa Kruger walked to load the bases, with Rachel Kinney’s double plating both West and Tunink, with the latter creating a 10-0 lead and ending the game.

Alyssa Kruger races to third base and Rachel Kinney to second on KInney’s bases-loaded double against Carroll in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday.

Julie LaRue pitched for Carroll, surrendering 10 runs (four earned) on 10 hits in 5-2/3 innings in the ring. She issued two walks and struck out one.

Rylee Ludwig walked and stole two bases, with Karlee Jones earning a walk to account for the only two runners the Tigers would have reach base in the game.

Perry hosts No. 10. Boone tonight and will then play in a tourney at Pella Christian Saturday. Perry faces Class 2A No. 8 Pella Christian (17-3) at 10:30 a.m. before meeting Grinnell (6-15) at 1:45 p.m.
