ATLANTIC — The Perry baseball team spent their only regular season Saturday on the diamond this season at the Atlantic tourney last weekend, falling to Class 1A No. 10 Exira-Elk Horn/Kimballton, 8-6, before bouncing back for an 11-1 win over Treynor.

The Bluejays (4-9) held a 2-1 lead over the Spartans (10-0) in the opener before a six-run fifth placed E/EH-K in a 7-2 advantage. Perry trailed, 8-3, entering their final at-bat, and while rallying for three runs needed at least two more to keep the contest alive.

The loss sent Perry into the consolation game against Treynor, who had run off 11 consecutive wins and was 12-1 entering the game.

The lofty record apparently mattered little to the Bluejays, who pounded the Cardinals via the 10-run rule.

Statistical information from Perry was not available.

Perry visits Gilbert tonight and ADM Wednesday before hosting Class 4A No. 8 Saydel Thursday.
