The Perry City Hall has issued reminder notices for the following public services:

Perry Farmers Market June 18

The Perry Farmers Market will be held every Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Perry Marketplace, located at the parking lot at First and Willis avenues. Items for sale will include produce, baked goods, crafts and more. For more information, call the Perry Chamber of Commerce at 515-465-4601.

Retirement reception for City Administrator Butch Niebuhr June 19

After 35 years of serving the citizens of Perry, City Administrator Butch Niebuhr is retiring. There will be a retirement reception Friday, June 19 from 1-4:30 p.m. at the Town/Craft Building, 1122 Willis Ave. The public is invited to join the celebration in his honor and to offer best wishes for his next adventure.

Perry Chamber of Commerce – Friday Fest June 19

Special musical guest: Glove Box Whiskey. Friday Fests are located in Pattee Park, with music starting at 6:30 p.m. This is a free, community-wide BYOB – Bring Your Own Basket – event, and attendees are encouraged to pack a basket or cooler for a picnic in the park during the concerts. Local Perry-area food and beverage vendors will also be available. Free inflatables will be provided for the kids, but don’t forget to bring a pair of socks. This event is brought to you by the generosity of our local businesses and organizations through donations and sponsorships.

Free appliance and scrap metal drop-off June 20

The City of Perry appliance and scrap metal drop-off will be held Saturday, June 20 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Perry Recycling Center, 14325 Ivy Place. H and W Recycling will accept your junk appliances, scrap metal and electronics at no charge. Televisions and monitors may be dropped off for a fee. City of Perry bicycle and unclaimed property sale June 27

The city of Perry unclaimed bicycle and property sale will be held Saturday, June 27 from 8-10 a.m. in the parking lot area of the Perry Public Safety Building, 908 Willis Ave. The sale will include unclaimed bicycles and property as well as outdated or unused city of Perry inventory and equipment. Prices will be marked on all items. Cash only. All sales are final. For more information, call Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481.

Parent and child swim lessons at the McCreary Community Building – Register by June 30

This class helps parents orient their children to the water. The McCreary Community Building will hold a class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from July 7 to July 23. Times are 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $13 for members and $26 for nonmembers. Deadline to register is June 30. For more information, call contact the MCB at 515-465-5621.

4th of July closures and garbage/recycle route changes

Perry city offices and the Perry Water Works office will be closed Friday, July 3. The Perry Public Library will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. The McCreary Community Building will be open from 1-5 p.m. on July 3, with the pool closing at 4:30 p.m., and will be closed Saturday, July 4 for the Independence Day Holiday. Garbage and recycle routes scheduled for Thursday, July 2 will be picked up on Wednesday, July 1. Garbage and recycle routes scheduled for Friday, July 3 will be picked up on Thursday, July 2.

Events at the Carnegie Library Museum, 1123 Willis Ave.

Join history enthusiast Larry Vodenik for a free lecture Sunday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m. The lecture is titled, Popcorn Stands and Mrs. Council.” Vodenik will deliver his third and final lecture Sunday, Aug. 9 at 1:30 p.m. titled Movies and More: Things to Do in Perry.” The summer exhibit of nostalgic Perry photos will run through Aug. 30. The Carnegie Library Museum is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

Youth volleyball camp at the McCreary Community Building – Register by July 10

The volleyball camp program gives area youth an opportunity to develop their volleyball skills. The camp is open to boys and girls in grades five through eight and will be instructed by high school volleyball coaches and players (if available). The camp runs from July 14 to July 17 from 6-8 p.m. The fee is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Household hazardous waste and tire collection July 18

The annual household hazardous waste collection will occur Saturday, July 18 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Perry Public Safety Building, 908 Willis Ave. The annual tire collection will occur Saturday, July 18 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Perry Recycling Center, 14325 Ivy Place.
