VAN METER — ADM was the host school for Tuesday’s Tiger Girls Relays, but with a new track being constructed — and new turf football field being installed — in Adel, Van Meter served as the site for the event.

Waukee edged Boone, 138-132, for top team honors, with DC-G third at 106 and ADM fourth at 96. Van Meter was fifth with 45 points, with Perry scoring 40 points and Des Moines North 28.

Senior Taylor Lathrum had the lone first-place finish for Perry when she heaved the shot put a winning 34 feet, 3-1/2 inches. She was fifth in the discus with a spin of 92’10.

Grace Stewart was fourth in the 3000 in a season-best clocking of 11 minutes, 54.73 seconds. She also ran the 1500, crossing fifth in 5:37.7.

Sidney Vancil also had a season-best effort, doing so in the 800 when she placed fifth in 2:39.38. Teammate Emma Olejniczak was a stride behind, crossing sixth in 2:40.57.

Vancil and Olejniczak had earlier teamed with Breanna Penenger and Haileigh Kenyon to place second in the 4×800 in a season-best 10:33.88.

Vancil, Penenger, Lathrum and Olejniczak were fourth in the 4×400 (4:37.01), with Emma Humpal, Star Love, Damaris Robles and Alejandra Rivera fourth in the distance medley (5:24.96) while Humpal, Rivera, Lathrum and Isabel Saemisch placed sixth in the sprint medley (2:17.31).

Perry was also sixth in the 4×100 (1:01.27) and 4×200 (2:12.49), with Humpal, Rivera, Love and Kenyon running the former while Maddie West, Joselyn Carrillo, Stewart and Love ran the latter.

The Perry girls will visit the Ballard Girls Invite Friday, with a trip to the North Polk Girls Relays set for May 5.
