ANKENY — Team Perry iJAG exceeded their own hopes of a top-three placing by claiming first place at Thursday’s Career Development Conference hosted by DMACC. It is the first time in program history for any kind of top-three finish.

Students were paired with others in each category to help develop cooperative skills and teamwork. Judges assessed the overall success of each team and of the individuals involved.

Perry’s Libni Funes earned first place in Math, with Elva Tavarez claiming first place honors in Critical Thinking.

Abbi Weir placed second in Chapter Banner Presentation, with ‘science’ as the theme, whiel Joey Coffin finished third in Critical Thinking.

Damaris Ramos and Indeliza Zepeda both competed in Critical Thinking for Perry, with Abigail Perdomo competing in Interviewing Skills and Justus Williams in Public Speaking.

The Perry iJAG program is directed by Tina Kenney and Krista Fisher.

Thursday’s victory was the first of its kind for the iJAG program at Perry High School.
