In a throwback to a time well before they were born, members of the Perry Junior Class Prom Committee will be turning Casey’s, 1308 First Ave. into a full-service gas station.
From 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, juniors will staff the fuel islands, distributing free bottles of water and washing windows while pumping gas for customers. Tips and donations (thank you!) will be used to help defray prom expenses.
Too bad the event isn’t happening at a gas station that is locally owned, such as Peters Service Center. It isn’t on First Avenue, but people know where it is located, and the money stays local.
