Perry Middle School girls track competes in RRC meet

The Perry Middle School girls track teams competed Monday in the Raccoon River Conference meet.

CARLISLE — A pair of seventh-place finishes were the results for the Perry girls middle school track teams Monday as the Jayettes competed in the Raccoon River Conference meet.

Bondurant-Farrar won the eighth grade meet with 157.5 points, with Winterset second at 108 while Perry was seventh of eight with 47 points. Carlisle’s 148 points claimed the seventh grade section, with Carroll second at 123 and Perry again seventh of eight with 40 points.

Jasmine Shriver won the 200 low hurdles for the Perry eighth graders in 32.85 seconds after placing third in the 100 dash in 14.9 seconds. She was fifth in the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, 6-1/2 inches.

Kennedy Tunink and Michelle Tobar were 4-5 in the discus at 68’5 and 66’8, respectively, with Macy Kilmer fifth in the shot put at 20’6.

Kimberly Castillo spun the discus 61’10 to finish fourth for the seventh grade team, with Jayna Kenney tying for fourth in the high jump after clearing 4’2.

Ashley Macias crossed fifth in the 800 in 3 minutes, 14.93 seconds, with Jasmin Hernandez sixth in the 100 hurdles in 20.94.

Names of those running in relays were not provided. The eighth grade Jayettes were fourth in the 4×100 (1:00.03) and sixth in both the 4×400 (5:14.18) and 4×800 (13:18.92), with the seventh graders second in the 4×800 (13:04.82) and sixth in the distance medley (5:39.21).

Perry will host the Mary Waggie Relays Thursday at Kaufman Track, with action starting at 4:30 p.m.
