Perry netters win three of four at own invitational

Criteria sent the Perry volleyball team into the fifth place match at their own invitational Thursday, with the Jayettes defeating Carlisle, 25-22, 15-25, 16-14 to finish with a 3-1 overall mark.

Perry, CMB and Earlham all finished 2-1 in Pool I play, with Panorama 0-3. CMB had the fewest game losses and thus won the pool on the first tiebreaker, with Earlham winning the third tiebreaker (point differential) to send Perry into the fifth place match.

Perry faced CMB in their first bout of the round-robin tourney, falling 22-20 in the opening game as the Raiders scored the final seven points in the contest. The Jayettes (now 7-10 overall for the season) rebounded to fend off the Raiders, 23-20, in game two before prevailing, 15-11, in the decisive third game.

Earlham defeated Perry, 21-18, in their first game, but a 21-12 Jayette win forced a third game. Unfortunately for the hosts, it was the Cardinals who first found the range and rolled to a 15-7 victory.

Perry blew past Panorama, 21-8, 21-19 to create the three-way tie in their pool as CMB had topped Earlham after both had defeated Panorama (scores n/a).

DC-G defeated Carlisle, 21-12 and 21-9 in Pool II action, with the Fillies also topping CR-B, 21-15, 21-13. CR-B moved into the third-place game by knocking off Carlisle, 21-12, 21-13.

DC-G won the tourney title by dispatching CMB, 25-22, 25-9; second place went to CR-B after the Crusaders downed Earlham, 10-25, 25-23, 15-6.
